In the 1891 edition (see our copy) there is added an extensive alphabetical index in a separate volume " Ortsweiser zu Sohr-Berghaus Hand-Atlas uber alle Theile der Erde ." The index volume contains 74 pages with abbreviations and a list of place names with location in the map grid. The 8th. edition includes astronomy and world maps, maps of Europe, regional maps of European countries and map of other continents and countries. Maps are chrome lithographs double page, numbered 1-100. mostly outline or partially colored or some full colored maps. Name of cartographer on first 4 maps only. Maps showing seas, bays, ports, rivers, islands, mountains, cities, townships, villages, roads, railroads, telegraph cables, forts, mines, canals etc., including explanation, color coded key to colonies, European possessions, legend and tables.
