Summary:Recordings of Makah narratives told by consultant Nora Barker and at least one other unknown consultant, recorded by William H. Jacobsen. The first three recordings were made on July 9, 1976 with Nora Barker and include “Killer Whale Husband” (00:00-2:28), “Children’s Song to the Star” (2:50-3:41), and “Wishing for the Star-Husbands” (4:26-6:19); the next recording is from July 10, 1976 with Nora Barker and is entitled “Feather Island” (6:58-13:59). The content of the remainder of the recordings (14:04-end) is unknown. All the above tracks were taken from a longer, original recording which contained duplicates of digital items catalogued in LA 52, The William H. Jacobsen collection of Makah sound recordings. In particular, this original longer digital item also contained the digital items in LA 52.067, LA 52.068, LA 52.069, LA 52.070, LA 52.071, LA 52.072, and LA 52.073. The texts “Killer Whale Husband” and “Wishing for Star-Husbands” are transcribed in 2014-21.002.066.
