By means of the dialectical method and the content analysis of the constitutional law books more used by the main legal courses of the country, the research seeks to understand, from these primary sources, the situation of the dominant thought in the Brazilian constitutional intellectuality. With the theoretical framework of social and political sciences concerning the study of the national thinking, the paper points, in conclusion, to the harmony between the Brazilian constitutional imaginary and the colonial thought that predominates in the country.
