Description
Summary:This figure comes from the CIMR Deliverable 80 (Scientific Benefit Case Study 2) which evaluates CIMR Support for better monitoring of Polar Low events. These are Images of serious icing onboard ships after or during the passage of Polar Lows. 110 tons of ice thus accumulated during a 17 hours period on KV Nordkapp on the 27th February 1987 in the Barents Sea as illustrated on the top middle panel (Foreship and wheel house) and top right image (starboard walkway and railing). The ice had accumulated from the deck railing all the way to the top of the wheel house as can be seen on these images.
