Summary:These data were collected at Bird Island, Algoa Bay, South Africa during the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 Cape gannet breeding seasons. The CSV files contain data of signal strength tests for VHF transmitters (in three configurations) at increasing distances from a VHF receiver, chick growth measurements, as well as time-activity budget (TAB) data obtained automatically from VHF receiver data, from direct observations (of both VHF-equipped Cape gannets and control birds) and from Cape gannets equipped with temperature-depth recorders (TDRs).
