Description
Summary:As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the glacial meltwater streams in that region. This package contains daily summaries derived from 15-minute measurements of water quality and quantity parameters measured with automatic recording devices on streams in this region. Specifically, this metadata record describes the daily hydrological summaries for the McMurdo Dry Valley's Aiken Stream at F5, located in the Fryxell Basin of Taylor Valley. Measurements commenced during the 1990-91 season and are ongoing. Anticipating lake level rise and the eventual submergence of the original control structure, an upstream control and streamgage was installed on 21 Dec 2011 and run simultaneously until the original control and streamgage was removed on 17 Jan 2013 at 12:52. During the period of overlap, data from the original streamgage was used for submitted data through 16 Jan 2013 12:00, afterward all data is from the upstream streamgage.
