Description
Summary:The CARTOVEGE project develops a decision-support tool for the conservation of flora and the preservation of habitats in the French Southern Lands. This project combines vegetation mapping and artificial intelligence modeling using satellite and in-situ data. Details In the face of climate change and human activity, the conservation of flora and the preservation of habitats have become major challenges for the French Southern Territories. The CARTOVEGE project responds to this need by providing an overview of habitat diversity and delivering the first comprehensive vegetation map of the Crozet archipelago. CARTOVEGE is now operational in the Crozet & Kerguelen archipelagos, offering cartographic modeling of specific habitats in the Southern Lands, which is particularly useful for islands inaccessible to humans. Moreover, it is being extended to the neighboring islands of St Paul and Amsterdam as part of the Cartovege2 project. The data used include high-resolution satellite imagery, historical ground ...
