Description
Summary:For regional analysis and comparison of data, it is convenient to group glaciers by proximity. The present dataset defines 19 first-order glacier regions and more than 90 second-order regions covering the full glacier coverage. The definition of these regions are based on WGMS (1989) and Radić and Hock (2010) and drawn from Arendt et al. (2015) with the following modifications: extension of several regions for complete glacier coverage, adjustment of Arctic Canada North (CAN) and Western Canada and USA (WNA), inclusion of the Antarctic Peninsula (ANT), subdivision of Scandinavia (SCA) into Scandinavia North (SCA-02), Scandinavia South Coast (SCA-01) and Scandinavia South Inland (SCA-03), consistent attribution of all glacier regions and sub-regions.
