Summary: | Automated weather station including a shielded air temperature sensor/logger and a tipping bucket rainfall gauge and data logger. Station comprised of tripod 1.5 high with temperature radiation screen at 1.5 m above ground. Sensor failure resulted in minor gaps in the air temperature and rainfall records, but were filled with data collected at both EastMet (operational from 2003-2008, CCIN: 9889) and MainMet (CCIN: 9885), as these records show a statistically significant correlation (Pearson r = 0.99) with WestMet, and were considered to be suitable estimates for missing data. As a result, our composite record has no temperature gaps and only one gap in the rainfall record during the runoff period (August 2012). Full details are provided in the data file. ... : The goal of the Cape Bounty Arctic Watershed Observatory (CBAWO) has been to undertake integrated hydrological and geomorphological research in paired watersheds, to determine the impact and feedbacks between hydroclimatic change and landscape stability in the Canadian High Arctic. At the West Station (named "WestMet"), year-round, systematic measurements of air temperature and rainfall are collected at hourly intervals. ... |
