Description
Summary:This dataset is a csv file of abundance data of chironomid larvae subfossils isolated from lake sediment cores collected on the Putorana Plateau, western Siberia. The lakes were selected to reflect the differing altitudes and habitats on the Plateau. Lake Glukhoe (code-named GYXO, 068° 09’ 54″N, 092° 10′ 23″E) is a large lake within a river valley – wetland environment at an altitude of 569 m.a.s.l.; the second lake (code-named PONE, 068° 08′ 33″N, 092° 12′ 11″E) is situated in a hanging valley between two mountain ridges at an altitude of 596 m.a.s.l. and the third lake (code-named PTHE, 068° 12′ 12″N, 092° 10′ 44″E) was the highest altitude lake sampled at 805 m.a.s.l. The data was used to provide estimates of late Holocene climate in this remote region of Arctic Russia. The data comprise core depth, estimated age with error and percentage abundance data for each of the cores. Details of the methods used to date the cores and age-depth modelling are given in the following reference: A.E. Self, V.J. Jones and S.J. Brooks (2015) Late Holocene environmental change in arctic western Siberia. The Holocene Vol. 25(1) 150–165.
