Description
Summary:A study of semipalmated plovers was initiated in 2002 and is ongoing. Nesting ecology studies include ground searches for nests and monitoring of nests. We record location, nest timing, nest success, habitat characterization at multiple scales, foraging habitats and food supplies. We also band adults and young and follow histories of return, pair membership, etc. of these birds. All data are spatially referenced. ** Data from the IPY years 2007-2009 are available for download. If data are downloaded and used for analyses, it would greatly be appreciated that the principal investigator be informed. : Purpose: To determine the success of shorebird breeding on Akimiski Island in Nunavut, to determine if there are trends that may be associated with habitat change driven by environmental factors or the effects of other species on their breeding habitat. : Summary: Not Applicable
