Description
Summary:This dataset includes ice velocity and ice front position data presented in the published paper by Miles et al. (2021): 'Recent acceleration of Denman Glacier (1972-2017), East Antarctica, driven by grounding line retreat and changes in ice tongue configuration'. The dataset includes ice front position shapefiles of the Denman Ice Tongue from 1962 to 2018, ice velocity data from 1972-74 and 1989, and the coordinates of transect A-AA used in the figure 3 in Miles et al. (2021). This research was funded by NERC standard grant NE/R000824/1. : Ice front positions were mapped from historical satellite imagery including: ARGON (1962), Landsat-1 (1973), Landsat-4 (1989), Landsat 7 (2001-2012) and Landsat-8 (2013-2018). Velocities are computed from pairs of Landsat images from 1972-74 and 1989. Velocities were processed using Cossi-Corr, an ENVI extension which is available at: http://www.tectonics.caltech.edu/slip_history/spot_coseis/download_software.html : Velocities were processed via Cossi-Corr, which is freely available at: http://www.tectonics.caltech.edu/slip_history/spot_coseis/download_software.html : Velocities have an error of around 70 m yr-1, more detail is provided in Miles et al. (2021).
