Summary: | We present the code and an example experiment for the framework that links in situ observations from the biogeochemical-Argo (BGC-Argo) array to biogeochemical models. With this framework, we build 1D model experiments along the BGC-Argo tracks. We utilize the Argo physics data to force the model physics closer to observations to reduce the errors in biogeochemistry stemming from physics errors. Then we use the Argo biogeochemical dataset to identify potential sources of model biogeochemical errors, improve and validate model configurations. Improved model configurations can then be employed in 3D models with a range of applications from regional to global operational and climate scale models. This framework enables us to focus on the biogeochemical model formulations and parameterizations using a continuous dataset in time and high-resolution at depth covering offshore regions where conventional in situ data is limited. ... |
