Summary:This repository contains data relating to the manuscript “ Brain activity of diving seals reveals short sleep cycles at depth ” (science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adf0566). Electrophysiological data (electroencephalogram [EEG], electrooculogram [EOG], electromyogram [EMG] and electrocardiogram [ECG]) and 3D motion data were collected from 13 juvenile female northern elephant seals, Mirounga angustirostris , at Long Marine Lab, Año Nuevo State Park, and in the Monterey canyon, California, USA. Time-depth and tracking data for sleep estimate analyses were collected from >300 adult female elephant seals between 2004 and 2019. Related data for this paper can be found in the Dryad repository.
