Description
Summary:Amphiporeia Shoemaker, 1929 Amphiporeia Shoemaker, 1929: 167. — d'Udekem d'Acoz, 2007: 65 (ubi syn.) Antenna 2 : article 5 of peduncle equal to article 4 flagellum with strong and long posterior setae, longer than anterior setae flagellum not increasing in size at maturity in males. Mandible : incisor process with about 7 erect spines lacinia mobilis circular in cross section, not blade-shaped palp with article 3 with D 3 -setae in all individuals , with transverse rows of B 3 -setae, with article 2 broad, with 1 anterior B 2 -seta or with anterotransversal rows of B 2 -setae. Maxilla 1 : article 2 of palp with facial row of setae and distal row of spines . Maxilliped : article 2 of palp without posterodistal lobe article 3 of palp broad to bulbous, not curved . Coxa 1 ventrally directed , with anterior border nearly straight . Gnathopod 1 subchelate, with broad propodus, not reduced in size . Gnathopod 2 subchelate , very similar in size and morphology to gnathopod 1. Pereiopod 5 with dactylus small but not vestigial . Pereiopod 7 with basis posteriorly broadly rounded and distally produced; ischium quadrate . Urosomite 1 without dorsal bumps (profile dorsally rectilinear), without spines and setae . Uropod 3 with inner ramus elongate , 0.3 to 0.5 times as long as outer ramus; outer ramus normally with 3 groups of spines on lateral border of article 1 (sometimes with a fourth reduced proximal group); article 2 with setae, if any, on medial border only. Telson with one or two groups of lateral spines or setae. Type species. A. lawrenciana Shoemaker, 1929. See Shoemaker (1929: 167) Composition. A. gigantea Bousfield, 1973; A. lawrenciana Shoemaker, 1929; A. virginiana Shoemaker, 1933 Distribution and biology. Northwestern Atlantic; sandy bottoms; intertidal to nearly 200 m (Bousfield, 1973). : Published as part of D'Acoz, Cedric D'Udekem, 2011, Validation of the family Bathyporeiidae (Crustacea, Amphipoda), pp. 54-62 in Zootaxa 2791 on page 60, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.205162 : {"references": ["Shoemaker, C.
