Summary:Simulium (Simulium) tuberosum (Lundström, 1911) Literature references. River Korana in Korana village, NP Plitvice (Ivković et al. 2012, 2014) (34); tufa barrier Novakovića Brod, NP Plitvice (Ivković et al. 2012, 2014) (36); tufa barrier Labudovac, NP Plitvice (Ivković et al. 2012, 2014) (38). New record. River Sava near the Jankomir bridge (6), larvae; River Radonja (27), larvae. Note: S. tuberosum is a member of the large S. tuberosum species group comprising 50 nominal species described from North America, Europe and Asia (Adler & Crosskey 2015). Nearly all Nearctic species and the majority of the Asian species were first revealed chromosomally (Adler et al. 2004; Tangkawanit et al. 2009). Adler and Kuusela (1994) found three cytologically distinct species of the S. tuberosum group in material from the type locality of S. tuberosum in northern Finland.
