Description
Summary:Ariadna boliviana Simon, 1907 Figures 3‒5, 7‒8, 10, 36‒37, 71 Ariadna boliviana Simon, 1907: 262 (♀ lectotype and ♂ lectoparatype from Espíritu Santo, [16°55'S; 67°48'W], BoliVia, Garlepp leg., deposited in MNHNP-AR 14382 and 14383, respectively, designated by Beatty (1970), examined).— Petrunkevitch (1911: 130).— Beatty (1970: 477, figs 4, 6, 14, 51‒52, 54‒55).— World Spider Catalog (2018). Ariadna dubia Mello-Leitão, 1917: 82 (♀ holotype from Pinheiro (actually Piraí, Pinheiral [22°30'46"S, 44°00'03"W], Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, E. Brito leg., should be deposited in MNRJ 1452, lost).— Beatty (1970: 483, as nomem dubium ).— Moreira et al. (2010: 61).— NEW SYNONYMY . Synonymy. Mello-Leitão (1917) described A. dubia based in a dried and pinned specimen, with a deformed and seared abdomen. Beatty (1970), due to the unavailability of the holotype and the poor description of Mello-Leitão, treated it as nomem dubium . There are two species registered to the type-locality of A. dubia : Ariadna boliviana Simon, 1907 and Ariadna obscura (Blackwall, 1858). According to the macrosetae pattern presented by Mello-Leitão (1917) in A. dubia 's original description, the tibiae I‒II presents 2-2-2-2 pattern (vp1-0-1-0-1-0-1, vr1-0-1-0-1-0-1) and metatarsi I and II with seven pairs of macrosetae. This macrosetae pattern is consistent with the one from A. boliviana , and differs from A. obscura . Based in the characters presented by Mello-Leitão (1917), A. dubia is considered junior-synonymy of A. boliviana .
