Non: Placiphorella stimpsoni Dall 1886 (pars) et auct. (= Placiphorella borealijaponica Saito & Okutani, 1989). Non: Placiphorella stimpsoni Dall 1921: 197; Oldroyd 1927: 316. (= Placiphorella velata Carpenter MS, Dall, 1879). Type material. Syntypes USNM 1646. Type locality. Japan, Hakodadi Bay, 45 m. Material examined. South China Sea, Hainan Island, Sanya, 55M-443, 1 spm, BL 25.0 mm, 0 6.04.1955 Distribution. Japan, southern and western shores of Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Hainan. Remarks. For a long time it was believed that this species occurs in the sea of Japan and near Hokkaido (Is. Taki 1938; Jakovleva 1952; Sirenko 1976b). However, Saito & Okutani (1989) found another species P. borealijaponica occurs there. : Published as part of Sirenko, Boris I. & Zhang, Junlong, 2019, Chitons (Mollusca: Polyplacophora) of Hainan Island and vicinity, South China Sea, pp. 1-40 in Zootaxa 4564 (1) on page 26, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4564.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/2588445 : {"references": ["Gould, A.
