Summary:Lampanyctus parvicauda Parr, 1931. To 11.2 cm (4.4 in) SL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Central Baja California to Chile (Wisner 1976). Larvae reported as far north as the Ensenada area, northern Baja California (Funes-Rodríquez et al. 2011). Depth: surface to mesopelagic (Wisner 1976); depth: 9–342 m (30–1,122 ft) (Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006b).
