Description
Summary:Neopleurotomoides Shuto, 1971. Type species: Clathurella rufoapicata Schepman, 1913, by original designation. Remarks : Bouchet & Warén (1980) compared Neopleurotomoides with Pleurotomella Verrill, 1872, and mentioned the protoconch sculpture as the only difference between these genera. Indeed the protoconch of Neopleurotomoides is unique in having a middle keel and axial riblets above and below it (Shuto, 1971: 5, pl. 1, fig. 2). Aliceia Dautzenberg & Fischer (1897 b: pl. 4, fig. 16) and Famelica Bouchet & Warén (1980: figs. 276–281) have a somewhat similar protoconch, but in both these genera the axial ribs are restricted to the area below the keel. However, Bouchet & Warén (1980) also considered, shells which have the same kind of protoconch as Famelica and Aliceia as Neopleurotomoides . : Published as part of Figueira, Raquel Medeiros Andrade & Absalão, Ricardo Silva, 2012, Deep-water Raphitomidae (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Conoidea) from the Campos Basin, southeast Brazil, pp. 1-27 in Zootaxa 3527 on page 8, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.210977 : {"references": ["Shuto, T.
