Summary:Liopsetta glacialis (Pallas, 1776). Arctic Flounder or Polar Flounder. To 44 cm (17.3 in) TL (Mecklenburg et al. 2018). Arctic coasts of Russia from south-eastern Barents Sea and White Sea to Arctic North America eastward to Queen Maude Gulf; southward in eastern Bering Sea to Bristol Bay, and along the Alaska Peninsula (documentation for presence along Aleutian Islands is lacking); western Pacific to south-eastern Kamchatka, northern Kuril Islands, and Sea of Okhotsk (Mecklenburg et al. 2016). Benthic; marine, brackish, and fresh waters (Morrow 1980, Fricke et al. 2020); depth: in shallow brackish waters of bays and estuaries to about 25 m (81 ft) (Kobelev 1989); rarely, if ever, found in deeper water (Mecklenburg et al. 2002), but reported to 91 m (298 ft) (Kramer et al. 1995).
