Summary:Quadraceps nesiotes (Kellogg & Mann, 1912), new combination Nirmus nesiotes Kellogg & Mann, 1912: 60 Brueelia nesiotes (Kellogg & Mann), 1912; Hopkins & Clay 1952: 59 Type host. Haematopus bachmani Audubon, 1838 — black oystercatcher. Remarks. This species is known from a single male (the holotype) taken from an oystercatcher and is not illustrated. Hopkins & Clay (1952) believed its true host may be some member of the Ramphastidae, a family that does not occur in the collection locality: San Martin Island, Baja California, Mexico. The type is very poorly preserved, with male genitalia, virtually all setae, and preantennal area are all obscured. Based on the characters that can be interpreted, it is very similar to Quadraceps auratus (Haan, 1829), a species widely distributed on several species of Haematopus, including H. bachmani (see Price et al. 2003: 289).
