Distribution Obelia dichotoma is a well-known species with a nearly cosmopolitan distribution (Cornelius 1995); it is absent from Arctic and Antarctic waters (Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 2002). In the Southeast Atlantic, it was reported from Angola (Vervoort 1959, as Laomedea ( Obelia ) dichotoma ) and South Africa (Millard 1975).
