Description
Summary:Melanella Bowdich, 1822 Type species. Melanella dufresnii Bowdich, 1822, by monotypy (Recent / Mauritius Islands, Indian Ocean). Diagnosis. See Souza & Pimenta (2019b). Remarks. Souza & Pimenta (2019b) discussed the shell morphology of the type species in detail. A concise diagnosis of the genus is doubtful since Melanella comprises a wide variety of species (Bouchet & Warén 1986; Souza & Pimenta 2019b). Here, we follow previous authors in considering a great diversity in shell morphology in the present genus. : Published as part of Souza, Leonardo Santos De, Pimenta, Alexandre Dias & Barros, José Carlos Nascimento De, 2021, Revision of the deep-sea Eulimidae (Gastropoda, Caenogastropoda) from off Northeast Brazil, pp. 451-504 in Zootaxa 4927 (4) on page 472, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4927.4.1, http://zenodo.org/record/4542923 : {"references": ["Bowdich, T.
