Description
Summary:This dataset contains a list of 438 omega-like structures observed in the Fennoscandian Lapland from 1996 to 2007. The results from this set of omega bands for the first time were presented in: Partamies, N., Weygand, J. M., & Juusola, L. (2017). Statistical study of auroral omega bands. Annales Geophysicae, 35, 1069-1083. https://doi.org/10.5194/angeo-35-1069-2017. The omega structures were observed in the stations of Sodankylä (SOD, 67.42 o N), Muonio (MUO, 68.02 o N), Abisko (ABK, 68.36 o N), Kilpisjärvi (KIL, 69.02 o N), and Kevo (KEV, 69.76 o N). More station details and quicklook data are at space.fmi.fi/MIRACLE/ASC. The attached file 'Omega_bands_list_1996-2007.txt' contains the following information: year, month, day of the month, hours and minutes (start of the observation), hours and minutes (peak time), hours and minutes (end of the observation), quality flag (between 0 and 5), number of omegas, station. The peak time refers to the time when the clearest form was seen in the all-sky image (see the paper for more details).
