Description
Summary:Genus. Stelodoryx Topsent, 1904 Definition: (amended from Van Soest, 2002, p. 619): Myxillidae with reticulate or plumoreticulate skeleton and a full complement of megascleres; microscleres include polydentate anchorate isochelae. Remarks: We amended the definition of Stelodoryx to allow for plumoreticulate skeletons within the genus to accommodate Stelodoryx jamesorri n. sp. The alternative of amending the genus would have been to erect a new genus for this species. We refrained from this option because the type material did not reveal enough DNA to strengthen this view by genetic data. : Published as part of Lehnert, Helmut & Stone, Robert P., 2020, Three new species of Poecilosclerida (Porifera, Demospongiae, Heteroscleromorpha) from the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, pp. 137-150 in Zootaxa 4851 (1) on page 142, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4851.1.5, http://zenodo.org/record/4407305 : {"references": ["Topsent, E.
