Description
Summary:□ Carcharhinus galapagensis (Snodgrass & Heller, 1905) – Galapagos shark; Tubarão-dos-Galápos ② , ③ According to Ebert & Stehmann (2013), the species Carcharhinus obscurus is very closely related to this species ( C . galapagensis ) and they are difficult to distinguish from each other. Recent molecular studies suggest that these two species may in fact be a single one, with one of the two forms being found far from landmasses ( C . galapagensis ) and the other one ( C. obscurus ) occurring in association with continental shelves and upper slopes (G. Naylor, pers comm. in Ebert & Stehmann 2013). Studies are currently ongoing to determine the relationship between these two species. : Published as part of Carneiro, Miguel, Martins, Rogélia, Landi, Monica & Costa, Filipe O., 2014, Updated checklist of marine fishes (Chordata: Craniata) from Portugal and the proposed extension of the Portuguese continental shelf, pp. 1-73 in European Journal of Taxonomy 73 on page 11, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2014.73, http://zenodo.org/record/3866515 : {"references": ["Ebert D.
