Description
Summary:BENTHOPECTINIDAE Benthopectinids have been collected almost exclusively from cold-water settings, such as from polar regions and especially from the deep-sea. Although this group is well-known from museum collections, there are few, if any, in situ observations of any benthopectinids known. Other observations of benthopectinids during the CAPSTONE expeditions were present on the rocky surfaces and not buried as opposed to the species described herein. : Published as part of Mah, Christopher L., 2020, New species, occurrence records and observations of predation by deep-sea Asteroidea (Echinodermata) from the North Atlantic by NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer, pp. 201-260 in Zootaxa 4766 (2) on page 212, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4766.2.1, http://zenodo.org/record/3764018
