Description
Summary:Scatopsciara (Xenopygina) armigera (Vilkamaa & Hippa, 2006) comb. n. (Fig. 12 B) Corynoptera armigera Vilkamaa & Hippa, 2006: 38 –39, figs 3 A, B; 5 E; 6 A. Literature: Mohrig et al. (2013): 182 (as Corynoptera). Comments. The species was described as Corynoptera. The study of additional material of a related species, fratercula Vilkamaa & Hippa, showed however that it is belonging to the genus Scatopsciara (see Sc. fratercula). In contrast to related species of the Sc. paradoxa group it does not have two closely neighboring spines in the middle of the gonostylus. It is very similar to the European species C. fera Mohrig & Heller (in Heller & Mohrig, 1992; it might be identical), but the type species, located in the CNC, was not provided for study it during preparation of this manuscript. ... : Published as part of Mohrig, Werner & Kauschke, Ellen, 2016, New Black Fungus Gnats (Diptera, Sciaridae) of North America Part I.
