Off Asturian coast (Lagardère 1983, Petryashov 2014). Off Galician coast (Nouvel 1943). Off Porto (Nouvel 1943). Gibraltar (Nouvel 1943). Offshore species related to the Canary Archipelago (Wittmann & Wirtz 1998, Haroun & Garrido 2003, Wittmann & Riera 2012). Azores (Nouvel 1943, Meland & Aas 2013). Remarks. The status of the genus Neognathophausia proposed by Petryashov (1992) (with two species N. ingens and N. gigas), synonymised with Gnathophausia by Casanova et al. (1998), Mees & Meland (2012) and Wittmann et al.
