Description
Summary:Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) represent an innovative and sustainable approach to fish farming. This method focuses on reusing water within the system, thereby reducing water consumption and enhancing biosecurity. This method is used for high- density culture of various species of fish, utilizing minimum land area and water. The Denmark was one of the first country to use recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology for commercial European eel aquaculture. Recirculating systems are now used to produce both salty water- and fresh water species, including rainbow trout, white leg shrimp, and turbot. The earliest scientific innovative research on recirculatory aquaculture system was conducted in the Japan in the 1950 focussing on different biofilter design for carp production, which was driven by the need to use locally-limited water resources more productively. ...
