Caterpillars often live on tree trunks of birches, willows, and pines; sometimes they aggregate together in numbers. Polyphagous. Adults occur from May to June, mainly in the evening. Distribution in Russia. Widespread species. It is recorded from the territory of the Karelian, European Northwest, South Taiga, Central, Middle Volga, Volga-Don, East Caucasian, South Ural, Southwest Siberian, Tuva, Baikal, Middle and Lower Amur Regions, and Primorskii Krai (Sinev and Lovtsova 2019).
