Summary:International cooperation is crucial for the sustainable development of the Arctic region. Over the last decade, the Arctic Council has been implementing an innovative approach to the interaction of states which includes the creation of a regional security regime and the prevention and reduction of risks of disasters. This is one of the main components of adaptation of the Arctic communities to the current and future impacts of the climate change. Infrastructure development, climate services as well as the coordinated package of tools for actions in emergency situations are necessary conditions for the improvement of the quality of life of northerners and economic development of Arctic regions.
