Description
Summary:ATLAS work package 1 & 4 presentation at ATLAS 3rd General Assembly. Current knowledge on the reproduction of cold-water corals (CWCs) is still scarce and most of the existing data relate to Lophelia pertusa. Here we briefly present a summary on the existing information on reproductive characteristics of CWC species as well as a more detailed focus on the aspects which could be relevant for modelling: reproductive timing/seasonality and reproductive output (fecundity). The second part of this talk will briefly summarize the state of the art of the research on larval biology and ecology of CWCs and the relevant aspects of these investigations to feed CWCs predictive dispersal models.
