Summary: | This code simulates iron discharge in meltwater beneath the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Based on geochemical evidence from a subglacial chemical precipitate, it sets up a scenario in which iron rich brines become more prominent in the Antarctic basal environment during glaciel periods in Earth's past. It tests the sensitivity of an increased fraction of brine in the subglacial environment, and calculcated the magnitude of Antarctic iron discharge to the Southern Ocean given a range of brine prevalence. This code uses data from the EPICA dome C ice core, geochemical data from a subglacial precipitate, and model output from a code simulating past Antarctic meltwater discharge through the Late Pleistocene (10.5281/zenodo.11126839). ... |
