Description
Summary:The following document is an Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP) for the Distant Early Warning (DEW) System, Alaska. The ICRMP is a five-year, internal compliance and management plan designed to integrate the cultural resources program with ongoing mission activities. The 611th Air Support Group (611 ASG) has developed this ICRMP as a comprehensive plan for the management of all cultural resources at former DEW installations in Alaska. The Air Force proposes to implement the ICRMP starting in 2013. The DEW System is considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. According to previous surveys, there were six known archaeological sites at the DEW installations. Historic cultural resources at Barter Island, Bullen Point, Oliktok, and Point Lay were also previously recorded.
