Summary: | We present here the main findings from pilot testing of vertical bifacial solar PV installations over the last 18 months. The studies are performed to validate the energy yield and support the commercial development of the concept of the new patent-pending prefabricated vertical bifacial PV Units (VPV Units) developed by Over Easy Solar. From July 2021 to April 2023, Over Easy Solar has commissioned 12 VPV Unit installations, from Tromsø, Norway at 69°N to Alicante, Spain at 38°N. Different azimuths have been used in the different locations, and at one location, two different azimuths have been installed. The sites are equipped with monitoring equipment, or they are located close to a conventional monofacial rooftop installation that can be used for comparison and interpretation of the results. The preliminary results suggest that installations with VPV Units may give the same or higher specific yield (kWh/kWp/year) compared to a conventional monofacial rooftop installation. In Norway, they provide high ... |
