| Summary: | New records from Greenlandic and Icelandic waters of the rare eelpout Lycodes luetkeni Collett, 1880, are presented. Morphometric and meristic characters of six bright pink specimens (137-527 mm SL) and both sexes, are compared to “typical” grey-brown specimens. No major differences were found, indicating that they belong to the same species, possible having two colour morphs. The pink colour disappears on fixation and it cannot be ruled out that the grey-brown colour described by previous authors is a fixation artefact. Additional fresh material is needed to give a definitive answer. ... |
