Description
Summary:Results are given of 10-years of systematic research of diversity of mosses, liverworts, lichens and cyanoprokariota by team from Polar Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute (PABSI KSC RAS). The territory of Svalbard has been studied unequally and requires further investigation. The revealed diversity of all the groups of organisms is large, but obviously incomplete. Studied organisms in most cases are small and nave high morphological variability. For some of them many arctic forms and variations were described early. Nevertheless, we found samples that cannot be clearly identified by anatomical and morphological features. The use of molecular-genetic approach will clarify the taxonomy of genera and species, and possibly identify new taxa for the science.
