Langley came to Maryknoll in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1937. He was assigned to work in Wuchow [now Wuzhou], China until 1951 when he was jailed by the communists. He was released in 1952 and returned to the United States to do promotion work. H was assigned to Hawaii and chaplain of Thule Air Base in Greenland.
