Description
Summary:Robert Scott's hut, Cape Evans, Antarctica, 1995.; Robert Scott's last campaign in Antarctica (1910-1912) was a disaster. Although determined in his effort to be the first to plant the English flag at the South Pole, Scott made a few key errors in judgment, such as deciding to use slower-moving ponies instead of dogs to pull the sledges. They eventually made it to the pole only to find they had been beaten by Roald Amundsen's team. Demoralized, short on supplies, and beset by horrific weather conditions, the entire party perished on the return trip.
