Summary:This project evaluated the Abraxis Saxitoxin Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for Testing Subsistence Alaska Shellfish for paralytic shellfish toxin on three commonly harvested Alaskan bivalve species. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to validate the Abraxis test results and provided an assessment of the PST toxin analog composition.This data set provides field sample and recreational sample collection and preparation information including regional location, site-specific location, collection date, assigned sample identification number and number of individuals collected per sample (as appropriate). The data also includes shellfish tissue homogenization details including date of tissue homogenization, and tissue weights (pre and post drained); and toxin extraction details including extraction date, the tissue weight and volume used for extraction, and pH values measured during extraction. Toxin results for Abraxis ELISA were analyzed by Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center Laboratory and toxin results for HPLC were analyzed by Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Environmental Health Laboratory (EHL) by post column oxidation (PCOX) high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) – PCOX HPLC/Fluorescence.
