Description
Summary:This paper aims to focus on analyzing how the North Atlantic Alliance views the closer integration of the Western Balkan countries into Euro-Atlantic institutions, when all countries in the region have expressed a desire to join these organizations. What has been the role of politics “NATO's "open door" in the Balkans? The issue of the connection between international security and democratization in the Balkan region is important for the wellbeing and the progress of this region as a whole. Existence or perception of threats to international security undermines democratization and, the failure of democratization undermines international security. Nickname "unstable region", The Balkans have been holding it for centuries and not without reason. It is known that the Balkans have long been a difficult area to ensure long-term stability, due to a great record in violent conflicts. Historically there has been a turbulent life. Because of the different ethnic and religious components, but also of territorial claims, peninsula (its western part) has always produced conflicts that have generated severe humanitarian crises. Severely challenged by conflicts, the region, has laid on the table vague and dubious solutions, which have failed to quell hatred and enmity, leaving in any case, as an opportunity for radical solutions, armed violence.
