Проблема малого монастыря — относительно новая и не до конца поставленная научная проблема, хотя она затрагивалась в многочисленных работах историков ХIХ — начала ХХI веков. В статье приводится общий проблемный обзор высказывавшихся мнений, концепций и оценок малых монастырей. Завершается статья выдвижением ряда положений, которые получены в результате изучения историографии, и которые необходимо развивать в дальнейшем. Они касаются сроков начала монастырской колонизации и особенностей, формы организации монашеской жизни и вопроса землевладения. : The problem of a small monastery is a relatively new question for historical science, although it was touched upon in the numerous works of historians of the 19th and early 21st centuries. The article provides a general overview of the opinions expressed, concepts and assessments of small monasteries. The article ends by stating a number of provisions that are formulated as a result of the study of historiography, and which need to be developed in the future. They concern the dates of the beginning of the monastic colonization and peculiarities, the form of organization of monastic life and the question of land tenure.
