В статье освещен неизвестный ранее эпизод завершающего этапа истории Гражданской войны на Севере и в Сибири, связанный с попыткой российского офицера гидрографа, известного полярного исследователя адмирала Б.А. Вилькицкого с помощью профессора-слависта и общественного деятеля Олафа Брока и норвежских властей продолжить изучение и хозяйственное освоение Северного морского пути. Проект адмирала, о котором говорится в статье, был связан интересом норвежцев к изучению и организации в арктических морях коммерческого судоходства к устью сибирских рек, а также с опытом сибирских кооператоров по организации Карских экспедиций. Автор использовал в статье выявленные им в личных бумагах норвежского профессора в национальной библиотеке в Осло материалы его переписки с российским полярным исследователем. : The article highlights the previously unknown episode of the final stage of the history of the civil war in the North and Siberia, associated with the attempt of a Russian hydrograph officer, the famous polar explorer Admiral B.A. Vilkitsky with the help of a professor-slavist and public figure, Olaf Brock and the Norwegian authorities to continue the study and economic development of the Northern Sea Route. The project of the admiral, referred to in the article, was associated with the Norwegians' interest in the study and organization of commercial shipping to the mouth of Siberian rivers in the Arctic seas, as well as with the experience of Siberian co-operators on the organization of Kara expeditions. The author used in the article, identified by him in the personal papers of the Norwegian professor in the National Library in Oslo, the materials of his correspondence with the Russian polar researcher.
