Summary:Report No 2 summarizes first results obtained from investigations during phase I 1983/84 of the Filchner Ice Shelf Project and from related studies presented as papers at the first Filchner Colloquium in Bremerhaven, 11 - 12 October 1984. The Filchner Ice Shelf Project is, besides the sea ice programme, the major glaciological project of the Federal Republic of Germany in Antarctica. (See Report No 1 for further information). The project being part of the international Filchner-Ronne-IceShelf- Programme of SCAR is a multidisciplinary study of earth, atmosphere and ocean sciences initiated in 1978 to investigate the mass balance and dynamics of the Filchner-Ronne-Ice-Shelf.
