Summary: | The aerial photos are from Devon, Ellesmere and Axel Heiberg Islands in the Canadian High Arctic. Dataset provide photos, photos details, flight line maps for these photos, and an overview of the area. The aerial photos were mainly sourced from the Canadian Glacier Inventory at the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The photos were taken by the Royal Canadian Air Force (typically in 1959/60) for the production of the first topographic maps. The original prints measure 10" x 10" in size, and we scanned them in greyscale at 300 dpi resolution. For more information about the aerial photographs (e.g., camera types, exact dates, etc.), contact the Canadian National Air Photo Library in Ottawa, Canada. Their homepage is at http://airphotos.nrcan.gc.ca/ : Purpose: Provide historical aerial photos of the Queen Elizabeth Islands in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago : Summary: Not Applicable |
