Summary: | Ocean microstructure profiles were collected during the International Polar Year, between 24 and 30 April 2007 from the Barneo ice camp in the Amundsen Basin, about 110 km from the North Pole. The data set includes 100 profiles of 1-m vertically averaged dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energy, in situ temperature (ITS-90 scale), and salinity (practical salinity scale). Profiles were collected using the vertical microstructure profiler MSS90L from ISW Wassermesstechnik (Germany) and a motorized winch, through a hole in drifting 2-m thick pack ice. Dissipation rate estimate is from one airfoil shear probe only. The temperature and salinity profiles are measured by precision sensors on the same instrument. ... |
