Arctic Ocean freshwater fluxes and storage from simulations with the Community Earth System Model version 1.1 (CESM1.1), 2020.

This dataset includes timeseries of annual Arctic freshwater fluxes and storage terms relative to a reference salinity of 34.8, calculated from the Community Earth System Model version 1.1 (CESM1.1) Large Ensemble (Kay et al. 2015, BAMS, doi:10.1175/BAMS-D-13-00255.1), Low Warming Ensemble (Sanderso...

Description
Summary:This dataset includes timeseries of annual Arctic freshwater fluxes and storage terms relative to a reference salinity of 34.8, calculated from the Community Earth System Model version 1.1 (CESM1.1) Large Ensemble (Kay et al. 2015, BAMS, doi:10.1175/BAMS-D-13-00255.1), Low Warming Ensemble (Sanderson et al., 2017, https://doi.org/10.5194/esd-8-827-2017), and the CESM Large Ensemble pre-industrial control simulation (part of CESM LE, see Kay et al. 2015). It spans 1920-2100, with 40 (CESM LE) and 11 ensemble members (CESM LW) and also includes the data for the 1800 year long control simulation. The data is stored in netcdf format, and includes metadata in the netcdf files. This work has been funded by National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs (NSF-OPP) 1504348. The raw CESM model output these derived timeseries are calculated from are publicly available at https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/. The calculated freshwater (FW) fluxes and storage timeseries add additional value, as the flux calculations take considerable time and effort to compute.
