Description
Summary:This dataset contains zonal (U), meridional (V) current velocity data and acoustic backscatter data acquired in 0.25 meter (m) depth bins at 20-minute intervals by a 614 kilohertz (kHz) acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). The data was taken aboard the N1 2017 cruise over Stefansson Sound, Alaska. The deployment depth is 8.2 m and the deployment period is 16 August 2017 - 09 September 2018. The N1 mooring is a bottom lander design instrumented with an upward-looking 614 kHz Teledyne RDI (RD Instruments) ADCP and a Seabird SBE37 pumped microcat CTD (conductivity, temperature, and depth) device. The motivation of the study is to describe the optical, structural and kinematic characteristics of freshwater plumes under landfast sea ice during the spring freshet in the Alaskan coastal Arctic.
